Leaf from the Siberian calendar  

The materials published, mainly, in the newspaper have come in the present selection " The Science in Siberia " during 1996 and 1997. The history of these publications goes back to those times when I after eleven months of unemployment of the beginnings to work in the scientific - publishing center "The Siberian chronograph ". A structure of publishing house - the scientific literature, on advantage humanitarian, it is especial - historical, it is especial - devoted to a history of Siberia - has induced me to offer a manual to prepare the popular edition which would correspond to a direction of our activity, but on a level it would be accessible to anyone " to the person from street ". In my opinion, in the best way such idea of unostentatious and entertaining propagation of a history of Siberia would answer not the book, and, say, a desktop calendar: get it not so much for reading (in difference from sheet block), how many for business needs, but all printed in it anyhow is read, does not pass by attention of users.

Some time is cunning on convincing the heads of information and commercial advantages of such calendar, and then as the initiative, as is known, is punishable, to me and have charged with this calendar to prepare. It is necessary to tell, that then I about a history of Siberia only and knew, that was any Ermak yes was Potanin (Kolchak it is not counted as a figure faster all-Russian). Two months of sitting above the Siberian Soviet encyclopedia (the twentieth - the thirtieth years), five-languid " the History of Siberia " (sixtieth), books by Yadrintsev, Slovtsov, Shcheglov, Maksimov, journal and newspaper publications have enabled to collect decent quantity of a material. Then processing and imposition began, and by October 1992 calendar was makes ready for the press.

After the first release (for 1993) it has received quite good press and appreciable number of admirers. Cases when one person got two copies are known: one put on a table; the second bound and put on a bookshelf. The second release (for 1994) has left in circulation a little bit more, but then in publishing house has not sufficed money, and I, unsuccessfully having tried to find the publisher on the party, at the end of 1994 has offered a number of newspapers to print materials of a calendar from number in number: all was a pity, that collected by me (and the fund of the data constantly replenished, and now replenishes) if will not be gone at all will lay idly.

To my offer have responded the newspaper of Presidium of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science " the Science in Siberia ", newspaper Siberia military command " The Soldier of Russia " and Kemerovo "Kuzbass". In part materials were printed also in " The Truth of Altai ", "Buryatiya" and "Khakasiya" (with them it was not possible to establish regular communication, I continually was late with transfer of a material and eventually has stopped cooperation).

Has approached to the end and 1995 of "Kuzbass" has prolonged cooperation with me and on 1996, and two other newspapers though used hardly ten - fifteen percents of a material, have refused to continue the publication. Meanwhile not printed remained a lot of interesting, and that it is even more important - some events briefly described in a calendar, record, and though a little more developed text demanded not short, necessarily a genre laconic. Then I have offered the editor " The Sciences in Siberia":"Give, I to you shall describe not three - five events per day, and one-two for one week, but not till five lines, and on hundred - two hundred". That has agreed. And the heading "The Leaf from the Siberian calendar " has appeared on pages of the newspaper. The technology of filling of it is stated enough in the notes following below "The dying and reviving deity of revolution" and "About one surname": assembly of any data, whenever possible entertaining, frequently exotic (the most often incentive motive to a spelling of this or that note - me would be necessary to share with others that I subtracted, - sometimes subtracted just), sometimes simply not so responsible idle talk, but not without a ulterior motive. Certainly, these texts - not independent ðàçûñêàíèÿ, and retelling another's so the genre can be defined as a school statement (at all the composition). To tell the truth, should notice in the justification, that almost in each case I used not one, and a minimum two sources; Thus, it any more plagiarism, and compilation - according to an old academic acuteness.

Alas, I have not allowed making this heading enough regular: breaks in occurrence of my notes reached several months.

But nevertheless the heading existed and even used any popularity. Some materials have interested also other editions - usually I transferred them there, a little having changed (is more often - aside than expansion). In result any heap of very diverse texts, a heap friable and chaotic, but not quite deprived certain not always felt obviously, but constantly present core (it, however, is more true to judge to the reader) has collected. So this heap also laid (only occasionally I let's read a selection familiar), while Alexander Fadeyev who has got acquainted with me on ground absolutely of others interests of study of local lore, has not offered to present some sketches in the Internet, for what I am deeply grateful to him.

It is necessary to take into account, that these materials were adhered to the certain dates, and many of them anyhow concerned also the burning events hardly probable interesting on during some time. According to a principle of the least action I have decided to leave all as is, having corrected only mistakes, yes having added here and there notes if after the publication of the text it was possible to find in addition curious details. So at reading pay attention for a while printing a sketch.

Last from the submitted materials was not printed in newspapers, and included in the Siberian calendar for 2000 (it left in a little bit other form: besides brief records about events, also small notes which too adjoin to the given cycle) there have come.
